- Well here I am today heading out pants tucked in my socks to keep the wind from blowing up my legs – it’s a little cool. The log was just stained.
- Just rolling along – nice quite road
- First Character of the Day – Super Dave – said good bye to him when he left camp this morning. He said his bicycling riding was as much a way of life as a trip to Santa Barbara – This is his 10th year. Super Dave said he was in a car accident about 15 yrs ago, and has the mind of a 20 yr old, and no short term memory. He is probably the most real fellow I met today. I mentioned I think like I am 25 and don’t have any short term memory either. I can’t blame a car accident, my excuse is life.
- This is Chad from Ohio he and his buddy are out looking for work in the Agriculture area cutting weed. Have been here a month. He is not sure when they will leave or where they are going. Nice fellow.
- And here is another story Sean Dugan from BC riding back from down south – He is missing a Pannier that someone stole off his bike in Garberville yesterday. I gave 20 bucks to help him till his money comes in from his brother in BC Canada
- Michael and Mindy from Seattle on their first bike journey going to South. They have hit the Wall and need a motel night to recover a little.
- The infamous Garberville – seems like a nice town – there are lots more than a dozen hitch hikers and park folks.
- Wow Some of the old Hippies who didn’t OD and are still protesting the War – not sure which one though – and the economy of course – take down the rich folks. This is the grass harvest season up here.
- This is sad – every corner has young adults hanging out waiting for a had out – a young woman came up to me asking for money for food. we talked for a couple of minutes – she appeared to have a herpes on her face – She also shared she was not going to take any of those minimum wage jobs, she wanted something with a future that paid well.
- Back out on the freeway out of town – Now I am thinking again Darn – Been there see and done that – how do you help these adults – perhaps a CCC works program but then you still have to sign up.
- Made it into Richardsons Grove campground – not too many folks here yet. 33 miles to here looking forwad to The Ranch in a few days.
