12-08-15 Wednesday 165 days 17 miles – Well needing water I choose to go to the closer Nenana
Back down the road to Nenana only about 10miles – out of water and the knee is pretty locked up, so shortest distance is required – peddling mostly with the right leg – good work out.
The view to the side of the road is pretty dense – yet I know the forest thins out just beyond
A Nenana bridge named after Shirley Demientieff, was dedicated by Governor Sarah Louise Palin – Shirley was native Alaskan activist.
The Native American Veterns Memorial Bridge –
The other bridge is for the Alaska Railroad Train.
Great Info center here at Nenana – the first thing was directions to the Senior Center Lunch – Great meal for 2.50 tacos and smoked rainbow trout – I am going like this place
and they have a Catholic Church with a 5:30pm Mass
Close up of Flowers outside of the info center
Really Beautiful – The Buses from the Princess Cruise stop by here on there way to Fairbanks from Denali Park
The flowers here in Alaska really are stunning – which is great because they only last a couple of months. then 9 Months of no flowers, just the memories and hope of more.
the Original 1904 Episcopal Church
The old Train station – that is the Veterns Memorial bridge behind it
Came back for Mass at Church, whick was followed by sandwiches and home made soup for dinner with 2 familys, Father Pat and couple of other parishioners – Really nice The father of one family is in the Air Force stationed at Clear AFB
It is really interesting and informative to talk with the people living here.
