12-03-07 Wednesday 73 days 2115+ Miles There is a storm coming

One this for sure the technology and communication is a benefit for traveling out here.  Riding along across miles and miles of prairie land, you get only a little sense of the vastness, loneliness, and exposure to the elements, that the earlier pioneers came across. On the smartphone I get weather forecasts that  show the hourly changes coming. Tomorrow is forecast for a storm, wind, snow, rain.

Road into the night last night and got in a 50mile day.

Only 13 miles left today to get into Fort Sumner.  I have been here a couple of times when traveling to John’s house, once with Laura my Grand daughter, who is with God. A few years ago I stayed a couple of days to kill time and get to John and Shay’s at an better time, and today. Ironically I get to see more of Fort Sumner while trying to get to see the Grand Children, than I would have ever thought. Not much of a Fan of Billy the Kid. Oh well other things happen as well.

  1. I really appreciate reading your journey. I am planing one from Kodiak, Ak to Lubbock Tx and back. When your journey is over I would really like to know your route.

    • Ambrose,
I ‘ll try to keep the route posted – I don’t have a definitive route laid out. Generally I am going to got to Visit Nutrioso, AZ not far off Hwy 60. Then Las Vegas, NV where my sister lives, Then north to Fernly, NV another sister, into Idaho at Deary to visit a Niece and her family. Prince George, Canada to Fairbanks, AK down to Haines, AK to catch the ferry to Bellingham, Wa.
I can tell you the Highway 60 is a great one from lubbock to Ft. Sumner.
Thanks for following and let me know when you start.
