12-10-07 Sunday- catch up in Crescent city ca.
Decided to stay another night and catch up on blog after a great breakfast/lunch at St Joseph church
Well tomorrow I can pedal some it off.

12-10-06 Saturday 182 days of riding 29 miles today. Beautiful Short Big tree ride today into Crescent City, Mass and hotel tonight.

- Another quick night of set up no tent just the tarp, after 43 miles and over the last summit out of Oregon.

- The fog up the mountain on the Redwoods.

- One of those sights I can stop at on the side of road with no pull outs.

- The short cut says go over this bridge on Smith River and turn right

- The sign failed to mention one of most beautiful and awesome trips through the Coastal Red Wood trees. I am glad the google maps bicycle route put me on this short cut.

- Bicycling along here is impossible with out being touched by the immensity of the surroundings

- The height is awe inspiring. These tall straight ones are the to be respected. The Giant ones with scars of fire and wind damages are to be admired and emulated.

- There water in this Creek is soo clear and peaceful. you can only see this if walking or riding a bike close to edge.

12-10-05 Friday 181 days of riding 43 miles today. Up the road seeing Fred again for coffee, thru the tunnel into California – again.

- I did come into here in the dark, up this side road and camped with the tarp over the bike on the side of the road. Logging trucks started about 6am only a couple.

- Stopped for Coffee at Ray’s market and Meet Fred Greenfield again. Great time talking with him. Everyday meeting interesting folks doing good things.

- After dinners at Joanne, and Catherine’s cooking, I stopped and bought some tomatoes and onions, with a garlic clove. What do you know.

- This is where lots of hippies came to live, not sure how the pick your own zinnia flower business is.

- Well so much for the healthy food. This is Terry’s sausage in Cave Creek- Steve’s recommendation and well worth it.

12-10-04 Thursday 180 days of riding 45 miles today – great start out of Jacksonville – over 2 summits and late camp on the shoulder of the road.

- Leaving Uncle Carroll’s and Aunt Mary Lou’s house. What a great time

- going by the bike shop in town who did a really good job getting the parts and getting them on.

- The look down town Jacksonville, Or on the way out – wonderful place since my relatives live here.

- Is this the same rock stacker from out side of El Paso in New Mexico – I think not – different rocks.

- Good place to fix the trailer flat tire. New tire and hit some goat head stickers and down it went. Oh Well easy fix.

- Morning after a good 45 mile day yesterday. Over 2 summits. This is a side road, the logging truck didn’t start until 5:30am.
12-09-29 Friday through 10-03 Wednesday – Visiting family I haven’t seen in too long – and only seems like yesterday –

- Hanging out in Jacksonville, Ore with Aunt, Uncle and cousins – great backyard in a historic town.

- Yep this trailer tire is worn out. Good thing there is a good bike shop here to get 2 tires, 4 rear gears, new chain and a really cool red tail light.

- and another great dinner with Uncle Carroll and Steve, Joanne’s husband.

- Joanne, the lovely host of this lovely home and times.

- Catherine – our new retired 30 yr school and gourmet cook for two wonderful dinners, delivered.

- Now Uncle Carroll does drive a little slower than the traffic – someone placed this flower on the top of the Van – Driving over to Medford from Jacksonville, we didn’t go fast enough to blow it off

Those ties in our formative years – up to about 16 years old stay with us our whole life time. we either have them or we don’t. The family ties are strong some remembered as good and some as not, but still strong and influential our wholelives. Guiding us in what to do and what not to do. Some times for benefit and sometimes for naught. Perhaps as we age and our perspective broadens we see the ties clearer, different, from both the guiding and the result of the guiding effect they have on us. If we are quite and look and listen in the present we see and feel what has been there all along both for good and naught.
This visit with the John Carroll and Mary Lou has been both wonderful, refreshing and inspiring. I am really proud to be a part of them.
12-09-28 Friday 179 days of riding 17 miles today – Short ride into Jacksonville, Oregon and began a few days of visiting family, refurbishing the trike and having fun
loaded up and heading out – short 17 miles to Jacksonville – should be to Aunt and Uncle’s home early.
The flag poles are down so the Trike could go under the pole gate across the road – the campground was closed for the season.
12-09-27 Thursday 178 days of riding 53 miles today Wonderful folks, good miles, great short cut, timely flat tire.
