Got a email from John that they have ski trip planned this week-end and first part of next week, and plans for the rest of the week. Perhaps later we can meet up.
So I guess I just stay on Hwy 60 to Springerville, Az and then go to the mountain at Nutrioso, AZ early and wait for Helena to meet me there for a couple of days.
The head wind today was gruesome – just put on my IPOD and pedaled. This road in New Mexico is fantastic – 5′ wide almost glass smooth shoulder.
- Heading out into a head wind from the rest stop into Clovis 6 miles away.
- outside of Clovis is Cannon Air Force – Traveling through all these towns you really see the impact of the military on the country. Jobs, and security.
- Only 370 miles to the end of Hwy 60 at the AZ border
- History lesson – Melrose is 20 very tough miles out of Clovis – Head wind is like pedeling up hill the whole way even on the downgrades.
- The other side of the sign. Funny how what was ‘women’s work’ kept familys feed and added artistic beauty
- As sun dropped, so did the wind and I just kept on going.
- Watching this sun set on wide smooth shoulder and the wind slowing. Turned on all the lights and with a full moon made a lot more miles.
